He, or she, apparently still works within the administration. A true patriot would resign and go public so their accusations could be tested. Writing a book like this while still on the public payroll is more than cowardly, it is also an attempt to disregard, disrespect and dishonor the people who voted for Donald Trump.
\n Next comes the testimony starting Wednesday of carefully selected “witnesses” before Rep. Adam Schiff’s “intelligence” committee (now there’s a play on words). These testimonies are designed to advance the left’s narrative about Ukraine, but only the narrative that fits their agenda and not the one featuring a real quid pro quo involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and his overpaid son, who held a directorship with a Ukraine energy company while his father was vice president and involved in U.S. policy on Ukraine. At the time, the elder Biden urged Ukraine to fire its top prosecutor, with the threat of withholding U.S. aid.
\n
HAVING failed at other attempts to smear the president, this is the Democrat’s last gasp. They must know that even if they draw up dubious articles of impeachment, the Senate won’t vote to convict and remove Trump from office. This could create one of the biggest political backfires in history if the public perceives it as unfair and driven by bias, ignoring evidence that would be to the president’s benefit.
\n Take one example of many that unmask the objective of the anti-Trumpers, which has been obvious at least since the 2016 election.
\n The attorneys for the so-called “whistleblower,” the person who heard from someone who listened to the call between President Trump and the president of Ukraine, have numerous Twitter postings stating their intentions. Here are some of them taken directly from their tweets.
\n From Mark S. Zaid: “#coup has started. First of many steps. #rebellion #impeachment will follow ultimately.” This tweet was posted just after the president was sworn in and before he had done anything.
\n In the summer of 2017, Zaid tweeted “We will get rid of Trump” and “as one (coup) fails two more will take their place.” He repeats these sentiments and objectives over many months. Zaid also predicted CNN would be an ally in the pursuit of impeachment. Anyone examining that network’s “reporting” can attest to the accuracy of his prediction.
\n The other attorney for the whistleblower, Andrew Bakaj, also appears to be an anti-Trumper. He has tweeted that the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. That’s the standard (in) the 25th Amendment.”
\n All of this is the stuff of show trials and banana republics. The left does not have a single issue on which they can defeat the president, most especially when it comes to the economy and the lowest unemployment in nearly 50 years, and as Trump claims, “the highest stock market ever.”
\n
IF THE public comes to see this as the partisan assault that it is and a power play to nullify the will of the voters who elected the president in 2016 -- assuming they pay attention during the coming holidays -- this could prove the greatest political disaster for them since Walter Mondale lost 49 states to Ronald Reagan in 1984.
\n And they will deserve it.
\n', created = 1574193608, expire = 1574280008, headers = '', serialized = 0 WHERE cid = '2:f9b13d355063f6cd49ed7a39723e3bb6' in /home/conserva/public_html/includes/cache.inc on line 112.

The dictator he has deposed tells him about a mirror given to him by “an old woman,” a mirror that will show him who’s plotting to assassinate him. The revolutionary soon sees enemies everywhere and begins to unravel, picking off his comrades one by one, believing they are out to get him.
\n
FANTASY, sure. But President Trump and Vice President Pence could use such a mirror to reveal those partisan forces attempting to carry out political assassination on the entire Trump administration.
\n The latest assault comes from another anonymous “whistleblower,” who told the Washington Post a Treasury Department official appointed by Trump sought to interfere with an audit of the tax returns of the president “or” vice president. Doesn’t that sound vague? On Sunday, the attorney for the first whistleblower told ABC News he is representing a second whistleblower who has “firsthand” knowledge of the president’s call to the president of Ukraine.
\n The first anonymous whistleblower has tentatively agreed to meet with congressional lawmakers, according to CNN, on the condition that his or her legal counsel is cleared to accompany the whistleblower to the meeting. No word yet on the second whistleblower’s conditions.
\n This is all political theater and bad theater at that. Democrats are going through the motions of impeachment, hoping to thwart the president’s re-election. They know the Senate is unlikely to convict him should impeachment articles be approved. It’s all about pleasing their base and fundraising, which both sides are doing. This is one of many reasons Congress’ approval ratings remain low.
\n Ruslan Ryaboshapka, Ukraine’s new general prosecutor, told Reuters that he was not aware of any evidence of wrongdoing by the son of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, but would be reviewing criminal cases opened by his predecessor, including some that could relate to the Ukrainian gas company, Burisma, a natural gas company that paid Hunter Biden.
\n If John Durham, the Connecticut prosecutor tapped by Attorney General William Barr to look into the origin of the phony Russian collusion probe, comes up with facts that lead to the indictment of anti-Trump Democrats, will that make any difference to those smearing the president? It might in public opinion, which Democrats are trying to shape against the president, but probably not to the real conspirators and colluders, except perhaps some lower-level types. The Establishment always protects its own. Could it be possible that Democrats are rapidly pursuing the impeachment inquiry to soften any blows that might come from Durham’s report?
\n
THAT THE president had to suggest Ukrainian and even Chinese leaders look into Hunter Biden’s possible corrupt activity is its own indictment of the anti-Trump media, Obama administration holdovers and career prosecutors.
\n The conservative organization Judicial Watch has been relentless in its pursuit of collusion by anti-Trump actors. It has released 145 pages of communications between former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and others which it says include a one-line email to special counsel Robert Mueller. It said, “The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions.” The communication included “off the record” emails with major media outlets (collusion?) around the time of Mueller’s appointment and “show that Rosenstein did not dispassionately go along with the fraudulent probe in an attempt to get at the truth, but was an active participant in the deep state coup, secretly plotting with other FBI and DOJ officials against the president of the United States.”
\n Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said, “the astonishing emails further confirm the dishonest corruption behind Rosenstein’s appointment of Robert Mueller. The emails also show a shockingly cozy relationship between Mr. Rosenstein and anti-Trump media reporters.”
\n If true, why is that shocking, given the nonstop media assault on Donald Trump even before he took office? Their goal has been to impeach, or damage him sufficiently so a Democrat will win the White House next November. Consider the one-sided “coverage” in major newspapers, the broadcast and at least two cable networks.
\n
MORE FACTS will emerge that undermine the Democrats’ narrative, but it won’t matter to anti-Trumpers. In modern America, the debate raged throughout Jimmy Carter’s presidency and more recently through the presidencies of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. The debate now looms large for Donald Trump.
\n
NEWSWEEK magazine labeled 1976 “The Year of the Evangelical” because of Carter’s openness about his faith. At the time, commentators claimed that conservative Christians had finally found “a place at the table.” The marriage of church and state seemed to have been consummated.
\n There are three camps in which contemporary Christians have assembled. In one, these Christians believe God is on the side of pro-life, “values voting” Republicans. This begs the question — is God on holiday when Democrats with different political views are elected?
\n The second camp composed of more politically liberal Christians believes Scripture has much to say about social justice. They tend to vote for Democrats, whether Christian or not, because those politicians advance their temporal agenda.
\n Camp three (really a subset of camp one) ignores President Trump’s history, language and behavior toward his political foes, believing he is God’s choice, though he has said he doesn’t feel the need to ask for God’s forgiveness (a prerequisite Scripture teaches for becoming a Christian). Critics of this camp excoriate them for hypocrisy based on their attacks on Bill Clinton’s character and behavior.
\n Who is right? Each has a point, but none is entirely correct.
\n
FOR NON-CHRISTIANS reading this column, knowing what believers think might help toward a better understanding of them. Better still are the instructions in Scripture, largely ignored or cherry-picked by all three camps when it comes to political power.
\n One verse states: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God and those that exist have been instituted by God (Romans 13:1). That seems unequivocal.
\n Does “every” mean every to my friends who believe in the “inerrancy of Scripture,” or only to conservative Republicans? Paul wrote this when he was under the authority of political dictators in Rome and the religious authorities of his day, which were unfriendly to him and to Jesus of Nazareth, to say the least.
\n How do conservative Christians reconcile what the writer of Hebrews says with their singular devotion to Republican presidents? “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.” (Hebrews 13:17)
\n How many think President Trump, or any president, should be credited with keeping watch over their souls? And yet that’s what it says.
\n There is a strong case to be made for President Trump’s support of many issues that in some cases can be defended biblically, including judges who are pro-life. However, one should be careful about overt devotion that supersedes where Christians are supposed to put their sole trust and faith. It was He who said, “My kingdom is not of this world,” which is the ultimate declaration of where all power and authority lies.
\n
PERHAPS instead of trashing politicians they don’t like and revering other ones, politically conservative Christians should contemplate another powerful verse: “I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men, for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior...” (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
\n Again, does “all” mean all?
\n', created = 1574193608, expire = 1574280008, headers = '', serialized = 0 WHERE cid = '2:4a32139c36eb3ad27ba96879815e66a7' in /home/conserva/public_html/includes/cache.inc on line 112.

Some Democrats in conservative states took the position that it wasn’t their fault that cases voters regarded as constitutionally wrong and morally unprincipled were being decided. Blame the justices, not them.
\n
THE ASSAULT on the court has become worse now that Democrats see their primary avenue to legal and cultural change slipping away. The latest is the post-confirmation assault on Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Opponents failed to deny him a seat on the court with testimony from Christine Blassey Ford, who couldn’t remember important details of a sexual assault she claimed Kavanaugh perpetrated on her.
\n But frustrated Democrats at the New York Times keep trying. The Times published a story last Sunday that alleged Kavanaugh while at Yale, “exposed himself and friends pushed his penis into the hands of a female student.” The incident was supposedly witnessed by a classmate, Max Stier, who went on to become a lawyer for Bill Clinton (oh, the irony), who supposedly communicated the story to the FBI and senators at the time of Kavanaugh’s nomination.
\n According to AP, the Times story “was based on an upcoming book by Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly, ‘The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,’ about the junior justice’s brutal confirmation battle last year.”
\n Kavanaugh denies the incident ever happened. The young woman the incident supposedly happened to has declined to be interviewed, and, according to friends, “doesn’t recall the incident.”
\n The Washington Post reportedly had the same secondhand information about Kavanaugh a year ago, but “did not run the article because they could not confirm key details of the story.”
\n
THE TIMES, unconcerned with key details, went full-steam ahead. The rather weak editor’s note they were forced to publish on Sunday “correcting” the story pointed out quite glaringly its journalistic ineptitude. And in what can only be described as an assault to its reputation as a trusted media outlet, the Times, said Andrew Sullivan in New York magazine, has “abandoned liberalism for activism.”
\n There’s an old journalistic cliche that says don’t let facts get in the way of a good story and once again the Times is so eager to keep the Supreme Court and government in general under the control of Democrats that they will print anything, whether it is true or not, to further that goal.
\n You’d think the Times’ troubles would give other newspapers pause before they tried smearing a person’s reputation in pursuit of political goals, but no.
\n After the Times’ half-hearted correction, the Washington Post jumped into the mud pit with stories about previous attempts to impeach Supreme Court justices and promoting claims by those who say Kavanaugh’s confirmation wasn’t fair (it wasn’t for him, but that’s not what they mean).
\n As one would expect, several Democratic presidential candidates rushed to judgment and demanded Kavanaugh be impeached. Questions have been raised, after all, but liberal Democrats are the ones who are raising them. It’s always the seriousness of the charge, not whether the charge has merit. When the charge is proved bogus, the left moves on to new charges against the same or other persons whose views they oppose.
\n As a Wall Street Journal editorial noted, “It’s important to understand that this assault on the justice is part of the left’s larger campaign against the legitimacy of the current Supreme Court and an independent judiciary.”
\n This is all the left has in their dwindling arsenal. They’re still after President Trump’s tax records. They hate his Supreme Court appointments.
